| Zusammenfassung |
| Several locations have been detected as major dust sources in Iceland. Meteorological conditions have been investigated at each of these locations using numerical models and direct observations. All of the dust sources are in the vicinity of mountains and it is found that mesoscale features of the atmospheric flow are essential in the creation of the dust storms. These features will be discussed and assessed in large scale models that are used for climate prediction |
