Zusammenfassung |
This presentation provides a status update on the tsunami warning related activities of the Bogazici University - Kandilli Observatory and Earthquake Research Institute – Regional Earthquake and Tsunami Monitoring Center (KOERI-RETMC). RETMC is providing services in the Eastern Mediterranean, Aegean and Black Seas since 1 July 2012 and has been accredited as a Tsunami Service Provider of ICG/NEAMTWS at its 13th session during 26-28 September 2016 in Bucharest, Romania. Second radar-type tide-gauge has been installed in Bozcaada-Çanakkale within the framework of “Inexpensive Device for Sea-Level Measurement” (IDSL) initiative offered as donation by the EC-JRC and planning is in progress for the possible installation of two more IDSLs in the Aegean Sea coast of Turkey. The work towards the creation of Tsunami Inundation Maps at 38 Tsunami Forecast Points in Turkey has been finalized. Early-Est (Lomax and Michelini) has been installed at the RETMC and its operational testing has begun. This work is partially funded by project ASTARTE - Assessment, Strategy And Risk Reduction for Tsunamis in Europe - FP7-ENV2013 6.4-3, Grant 603839. We would like to thank the Ministry of Development (of Republic of Turkey) for its support to on-going activities of RETMC. We also would like to thank to EC-JRC and Dr. Alessandro Annunziato for their continuous support in the operational activities of RETMC and IDSL initiative, and to Anthony Lomax for his cooperation and support in the operationalization of Early-Est. |
