| We present the results of anisotropy of magnetic susceptibility (AMS) analyses carried out on Aptian-Albian rocks (marls, marly limestones and fine sandstones) from the well-exposed syn-kinematic overburden of the Bakio diapir. The Bakio diapir (Basque-Cantabrian basin, Northern Spain), cored by upper Triassic rocks, presents a NNE-elongated orientation, developed during Lower Cretaceous rifting linked to the Bay of Biscay opening and was after reactivated during the Upper Cretaceous-Miocene Pyrenean compression. Oblate magnetic ellipsoids with a well-defined NNE-oriented magnetic lineation of tectonic origin are found in some sites sampled on the syn-diapiric overburden suggesting the diapiric growth influence on the magnetic fabric acquisition. |
