Zusammenfassung
Forests cover more than half of Sweden, and remain a major resources in both economic and environmental terms. The study of forest waters in Sweden is today largely focused on the environmental aspects of forest management and climate change. But a century ago, the motivation of forest hydrology research was different. Initially the concern was to manage water in the landscape to promote forest production. The scientific questions have also changed over the years, partly as a result of the practical issues, but also as a result of international influences and theretical developments. This presentation documents the intertwined history of the societal issues and theoretical questions that have characterized Swedish forest hydrology over the last 120 years.
