Coal has been a very important energy source and there is an increasing demand for it. Electrical resistivity is a successful tool for exploring coal formations. Soma region has a well known coal potential and it was aimed to investigate the possible existence in the Akhisar (Manisa/Turkey) region close to it. For this purpose, vertical electrical sounding method was carried out in 63 points on 3 profiles, each has a length of 20 km, in order to determine vertical resistivity cross-sections of the field. Besides 2-dimensional damped least squares inversion method was applied to data. Also two points were drilled and coal samples were obtained from the anomalous areas. |
