Zusammenfassung |
Expert data management (access, formats, data life-cycle) facilitates the successful re-use of information which address many important scientific questions such as detecting decadal and longer-term changes in global ocean heat and freshwater content.
Modern hydrographic data management has its origins in the WOCE program where new and existing distributed resources were identified and organized into an effective "super DAC”. Data from this program are referenced in hundreds of scientific papers.
The distributed hydrographic data system, now under the name GO-SHIP, exists today and has adapted to the new geoscience demands of the 21st century. This presentation will describe science drivers and the required data center resources (CCHDO, CDIAC, JCOMMOPS) which together provide reliable access for the global research community. |
