| Zusammenfassung |
| The final goal of the Civil Protection Project HAREN (“Hazard Assessment based on Rainfall European Nowcasts”) has been assessing the hazard induced by intense precipitation at European scale. With this aim, the OPERA radar mosaics have been used to produce rainfall 6-hours nowcasts at a resolution of 4 km and 15 minutes. Within the project the hazard assessment is based on the comparison between forecasted rainfall accumulations with regional thresholds to produce a 3-level hazard classification.
In this work we present the results of the evaluation of the HAREN nowcasting system during summer and fall 2013, not only in terms of point and regional rainfall forecasts, but in terms of the skill in forecasting the hazard levels as well. |
