| Web mapping technology is one of the best option when digital maps need to be disseminated.
Web maps are distributed as rasters or vectors using various web servers and applications. The interactivity of these maps is also present.
We present a suite of open source applications, working on any web server and which can be used for the presentation and the dissemination of online geomorphologic maps. Every application and method was assessed using several criteria.
The conclusion is that raster maps, rendered by Mapnik and served by OpenLayers are the best option for delivering online geomorphologic maps. |
