Zusammenfassung |
Progress toward monitoring and predicting tsunamis depends in a very large degree to development and adoption of global and inter-disciplinary standards for encoding and exchange of crucial information that could come from a rapidly evolving technology framework, and that can be readily adopted and implemented by developed and developing nations alike. There are many standards bodies that can and do come into play, so this is not just a matter of overcoming institutional barriers among the many stakeholders, but also negotiation of responsibility and authority among standards development organizations (SDOs) as well. In this presentation, we will provide a survey of the relevant standards bodies, standards activities, and examples of usage in recent years. There are many activities underway which have good potential for convergency and synergy. Through greater awareness of each other’s efforts, we can help that along. |
