The IAGA and the CGMW published the First Edition of the World Digital Magnetic Anomaly Map (WDMAM) in 2007, and since that decided to update the map for IGC34. Data teams submitted 22 new and updated data sets. Candidates are compiled by three teams. Two candidates will be reported in 2012, presenting the data quality and characteristics, principles of compilation and comparison with previous World Magnetic Anomaly Maps and other global reference. The reference of the basic map is MF7 and the grid size 3 minutes, completed with a refined grid to 1.5 minutes, where data is available. The basic compilation is made by ordinary, commercial geophysical software to let the data owners complete and modify the map for their possessions. Upon release, the grids will be freely available to science, industry and education. |
