| European countries are in different stages to support the implementation of large-scale environmental research infrastructures. These infrastructures cover the physical and natural environment from deep earth, to terrestrial, marine and atmospheric sciences. Shared features are that these planned infrastructures support researchers with distributed instruments, data and software tools. Recently, these research infrastructure initiatives joined in a project to address common interests. The focus is on solutions for common problems and on supporting interdisciplinary users requiring the support of more than a single infrastructure. Common problems mainly relate to data processing. The support of interdisciplinary users will be promoted by developing a common reference model, not only technological but also for services to these users. The cooperation of environmental research infrastructures provides a joint platform to organize publicity on the urgency of environmental research. |
