| This work is based on the recently updated, examined and corrected Continental Portugal Rural Fire Database, in what respects to data inconsistencies (missing values, format errors and date/time errors), its completeness and rounding effects on burnt area sizes in the database. This dataset includes detailed information about each of the 500,000 fire records registered during the 1980-2009 period. These adjustments introduce changes in the correct use of the database. For example, amendments over time in the minimum measured burnt areas in this database lead to change in the original database observed trends and limits the use of the available information for each fire record. The results obtained with the exploratory, trend and variability analysis and the impacts of such adjustments in the collection of attributes that are usually used to define fire regime will be presented and discussed. |
