| Upper ionosphere electron density characterized by the critical frequency foF2 is known to be positively correlated with solar activity. When using the day-to-day correlation, the 27 day periodicity is usually apparent. Mid latitude winter noon data from the 1967-2003 time interval were studied. Three cases with a strongly negative correlation appeared always connected with a high value of the Dust Veil Index and of the Stratospheric Aerosol Optical Depth. The negative foF2 and F10.7 correlation can be in the first approximation considered as a response to the “forcing from below”. |
