Zusammenfassung |
In order to design and implement effective land use policies to promote terrestrial carbon
sequestration and storage, it is important to identify the opportunities available across
landscapes that can be harnessed. Using a combination of model predictions and national
databases we have mapped the terrestrial carbon sequestration opportunity for the UK. This
opportunity is defined as the difference between the present day carbon stock (soil and
vegetation) and the potential stock as predicted by the equilibrium response of three Dynamic
Vegetation models (DVM) driven with UK climatology. We present here, the methodology
and preliminary results of the opportunities identified across the landscape of England and
Wales. |
