| There have been a series of recent studies that offer a new assessments and analyses of the flows of energy through the climate system. With the advent of recent, new observations about cloud and aerosol, it is now appropriate to revisit this topic to quantify, in particular, the effects of clouds and aerosol on this energy balance. This study will review new estimates of the planetary energy balance noting where uncertainties remain. The study in particular reviews our state of understanding of the planet’s energy balance, how these observations revise these existing depictions of our understanding, and how clouds shape this balance. |
