| In this study we have analysed the coronal mass ejections (CMEs) during the period January 1996 - April 2008, which have produced major geomagnetic storms (Dst < -150 nT). The analysis is focused on: the source of CMEs, signatures near the Sun and into the interplanetary space of these events, their impact on the Earth magnetic field. Correlations between CMEs parameters and geomagnetic indexes have been done in order to improve the space weather prediction, based on near-Sun signatures. |
