Zusammenfassung
The highest rate of abandonment in the degree studies usually happens during the first course due to the difficulties in the acquisition of knowledge and the lack of immediate professional horizons. Although the contents of the general subject in the first courses are essential to provide a suitable formation in the specific professional fields, the students are not actually aware of their importance and a significant number of students quit their studies. Therefore, a program of seminars and meetings including extra-curricular activities was designed for the students of the first course in the Agronomist and Forest Engineering School. Retired senior professors and experts were invited to school and shared their extensive experiences in encouraging the student expectative and for showing different work fields. The students considered that the seminars improved their motivation in their studies (evaluation 7.6 on 10) and it was useful for their professional development (evaluation 7.3 on 10). This type of activities not only allows to improve the satisfaction of the students but also connect different generations and areas of knowledge.
