Some people will talk of a new emerging Complexity Science, other ones will only refer to exploratory approaches to investigate complex systems. Beyond the words, we have to acknowledge that a set of new concepts and new tools have been developed by researchers from various disciplines to deal with interactions between multiple entities and processes rather than on isolated phenomena, to carry out integrated studies on physical, biological or social systems handling multiscale information rather than focusing on controlled case studies, to acknowledge for unpredictability even if the simplest non linear models would apply, etc. The field of complex systems is not yet in a state to be taught in the same way as classical science at University , anyway many masters and PhD curriculum are now proposed to students to cross traditional boundaries and we will give in this talk some examples of educational programmes which are in development in France and in Europe in this context. We will discuss here about the possibility to share on-line training resources in this field, which would benefit to a large audience, including engineers in Soil Science. |
