| The session "Natural Hazards' Impact on Urban Areas and Infrastructure" is being organised since 1999, and since 2002 Maria Bostenaru has been chairperson of the session; since 2003 convener. So far numerous articles have been submitted to various journals, being guest editor for "Natural Hazards and Earth System Sciences", "Bulletin of Earthquake Engineering" and "Natural Hazards". The later two activities resulted into special issues. The first one, in the "Bulletin of Earthquake Engineering" was published in 2006, and presented in previous General Assemblies. In this contribution we will focus on the newest one, published December 2009. Unlike the first special issue, which included only papers from earthquake engineering, in this one we included papers related to climate change, floods, mountain risks such as volcanoes and avalanches, and again earthquakes. The focus of the special issues in frame of the international documents related to protection of urban areas from natural and man-made disasters will also be presented. |
