Zusammenfassung |
Cores of around 2 m long were collected from different parts at the South West Caspian Sea. All the cores are marked by fine laminated sediment, which are rapidly removed in oxidizing conditions. Textural and compound study of sediments indicate that sediment ranged from fine silt to clay, with moderately enriched organic matter and carbonate (AVE. 2.5 % OM & 15.1 to 24.04% carbonate). The organic matter contents of sediments increase with depth and distance from the coast. Such relations show that the reduction condition is most important factor in OM enrichment. No distinct pattern in carbonate distribution is found. This is related to their diverse source, both land derived, and chemical / biochemical. |
