| Numerical circulation models are being used now on a regular basis to
estimate the ocean state over the last decades by bringing them
together with all available ocean observations through data
assimilation. Uncertainties of models and of data are essential priors
that need to be specified and that are essential for determining the
solution. The talk will discus the status of determining data and
model errors and will present examples of resulting estimates. The
talk will especially also address a comparison of results available
from various ocean state estimates to analyze the a posteriori
uncertainty of various existing ocean state estimates. Results
presented are a contribution to the ongoing CLIVAR GSOP tests of ocean
state estimates. |
