| In the frame of the EU funded project EuroHydros - A European Network for Atmospheric Hydrogen observations and studies – a global monitoring network for molecular hydrogen has been established. This network includes 12 continuous sites situated in Europe and 19 globally distributed flask sites. All measurements within this network refer to a consistent and quality-controlled calibration scale for molecular hydrogen. For some of the sites, isotopes of molecular hydrogen are determined. Besides of hydrogen, carbon monoxide, as an indicator for combustion processes and anthropogenic emissions and the noble gas radon (222Rn) are measured at most of the sampling sites. High-quality data from the continuous sites are generally available in 30 min time resolution, flask sites are probed 2 to 4 times a month.
The EuroHydros sites were chosen to cover a diversity of geographical regions and thus to get a global view of the distribution, variability and long term evolution of molecular hydrogen in the atmosphere, Furthermore, the stations include background sites, moderately polluted and urban/polluted sites.
