Zusammenfassung |
The Met Office has had the benefit of having a 'Unified Model' for weather forecasts and climate change projections for over 15 years. The intention is for the seamless nature of the model to be exploited further in the future to evaluate, and hopefully improve, forecasts across time and space scales. This presentation will provide an overview of how the Unified Model has been used for seamless assessment in the past, where we are now in terms of how 'seamless' the Unified Model is, and outline our scientific plans for the future. These include the use of seamless assessment for improving predictions of extreme events, for developing a traceable hierarchy of models across resolutions, and for enabling objective methods to complement the model tuning process. |
