| The contribution of the International VLBI Service for Geodesy & Astrometry
(IVS) to the ITRF2008 is derived by the IVS Analysis Coordinator through a
combination. The input of the combination process are sets of datum-free
normal equations in SINEX format containing station positions and EOP
submitted by seven IVS Analysis Centres (AC). All contributions are
completely reprocessed from 1979/1984 till 2008 following homogeneous
analysis options according to the IERS Conventions and VLBI-specific
constants such as axis offsets and reference temperatures.
As part of the quality assessment, station position and EOP time series as
well as a complete TRF solution are calculated for each submitted
contribution (series of normal equations). These solutions computed for each
individual contribution are compared to the combined ones. In this
presentation, we discuss the quality of the VLBI results with respect to
various criteria in the data handling procedure. Furthermore, the IVS
combined TRF is compared with the ITRF2005 and the differences are discussed. |
