Zusammenfassung
Johannes Honter (Honterus) made the first map of Transyvania in 1532. The preceding researchers supposed that his base map was the map of Hungary made by Lázár (Lazarus) in 1528, but this statement wasn’t checked or documented yet. Recently Timár and Molnár has computed a probable projection for Lázár’s map: one of Ptolemy’s projection (Equidistant conic projection with 2 standard parallels). In this study the author compares the Lázár’s map and the Ptolemy’s projection, the Honter’s map and the Ptolemy’s projection and the Honter’s map and the Lázár’s map using the MapAnalyst software. The result of the quantity methods is that the north direction, the accuracy of the projection network is the same at both of maps. The author’s conclusion is that Honter used the same projection as Lázár: Ptolemy’s projection.
